The last week of April was a busy week for the Liberty Band.

13 Liberty students were selected to the SWIC All-Conference Band.  All of the students selected from the 10 conference schools, came together to form a mass band at Orland Jr. High on April 23 & 24.  The expereince culminated with a concert on Wednesday.

The Liberty Jazz Band took part in the Reavis Jazz Cafe on Thursday, April 25.  This was a terrific evening of instrumental and vocal jazz and pop music.  The audience enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere in the Reavis Band Room and enjoyed cheesecake and cookies.   All proceeds went to support the upcoming Reavis Band trip to Florida.

Finally, the Liberty 7th grade and 8th grade bands perfomed at the IGSMA State Band contest on Saturday, April 27th.  Both groups earned this honor by receiving the highest rating possible at District Contest in March.  Both groups represented Liberty admirably with a nice performance.

Tuesday April 23, 2013

Hello Band Parents

We will have our band parent meeting and board elections on Wednesday May 15th at 7pm in the Liberty Jr High band room. We are looking to fill all board positions. Remember the band program is counting on you to participate in order to keep all of our extras for the kids available. Please come out and get involved.

Our spring concerts are coming up soon. The Beginner Band has their concert at Liberty Jr. High School on Thursday May 16th at 7pm.

The Cadet and Intermediate bands will be performing at Liberty Jr. High School Thursday May 23rd at 7 pm in the gym.

The Liberty bands will be performing at Liberty also on Tuesday May 21st starting at 7pm.

We are asking that all of our band parent families bring treats the night of your child’s concert (cookies, cupcakes, etc.. either baked or bought) to share with everyone after the concerts. The Band Parent Organization will provide juice at all the concerts.

We are also in need of volunteers to help set up the refreshments and clean up afterwards. It would be beneficial to everyone if we could the Liberty parents to do the refreshments for the elementary bands concert and elementary band parents to do the Liberty concert. That way everyone can see their child without having to rush back and forth between rooms.

Please be reminded this will be your last chance to pay your Band Parent Association fees. The fee is $20 per family. Children from families that have not paid their fees will not be able to attend the Summer Pool Party this coming June.

Please call me (Rob Mazurek) on my cell 708-805-3135 to let me know what night you can help with refreshments for either concert. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Rob Mazurek
